# How Huntd works

> You tell Huntd who you sell to. Huntd maps the tools worth tracking, tells you per account who runs what, tags each account for the rep who owns it, and delivers the list to your dashboard, Slack, Google Sheets or CRM.

Huntd turns a plain-English description of your ideal customer into a per-account read of what every target account actually runs. This is the same flow shown at [gethuntd.com/how-it-works](https://gethuntd.com/how-it-works).

<Steps>
  <Step title="Tell us your ICP">
    In plain English, or just hand us the accounts you already care about. No fields, no filters, no schema.

    For example: "Enterprise SaaS or cybersecurity with 100+ quota-carrying reps and a VP Sales Enablement hired in the last 12 months. Outbound-led. US and Western Europe."
  </Step>

  <Step title="We map the tools worth tracking">
    Every tool in your ecosystem, sorted into four product-overlap segments. Each one is a different play.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Then, per account, who runs what">
    For every account on the list, exactly which of those tools they actually use, how many people are on each, and the evidence behind it.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Every account tagged for the rep who owns it">
    Each rep opens their book already knowing who is locked into a competitor, who is only part-way there, and what else the account runs. Context before the first call, not after the third.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Delivered where your team works">
    Explore the full dashboard, get the list in Slack or Google Sheets, or sync focused segments straight to your CRM.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## The four segments

Huntd sorts every tool in your market into one of four segments. Each segment answers a different question and calls for a different play.

| Segment | What it means | The play |
| - | - | - |
| **Direct competitors** | The account is currently using a direct competitor. | Switch play, or avoid if they are deeply locked in. |
| **Partial products** | Tools doing part of what you do. | They already have the problem. Sell the complete answer. |
| **Adjacent products** | What buyers use before and after you in the journey. | Timing and partnership signals. |
| **Parallel products** | Same persona, different category, adopted around the same time. | Lookalike targeting and co-marketing. |

## Seats, not just logos

Knowing a company bought a seat is not enough. Huntd counts the users on each tool inside each account.

* **An entire team on a tool** is a locked-in customer.
* **One or two seats** is a trial that went nowhere.

For horizontal tools such as Figma or Miro, and for multi-product suites such as HubSpot, Huntd also tells you which team is on which product. If your edge is with brand teams, you get the companies where the brand team is live and skip the ones where the tool never left product.

## Renewals and signups

Huntd finds renewal dates backed with evidence, so you can reach an account at the moment its contract is up for a decision rather than six months into a lock-in. It also detects the moment a tracked account signs up for a tool you follow, and can deliver that as a [signup webhook](/public-api/signup-webhooks).

## Onboarding

Send us your accounts, or just describe your ICP and we will build the list, plus the personas you sell to. We set up the routing and you start getting data. There is no long implementation. The only real decision is where you want it delivered.

If you would rather skip the conversation entirely, send company domains or contact emails to the API and we will enrich them directly. Start with the [Quickstart](/quickstart).

  Name the tools you sell against. We will run exactly this on them and send you a free sample.
